Powerful Unit

Linamar was heading to an international trade show and needed a dynamic video presentation of their power transfer unit (PTU), a part integral to automotive transmissions. They needed the transfer case to look real and tell the story of how the clutch activates when it shifts from 2-wheel drive to 4-wheel drive (and a bunch of other very technical stuff!). Oh yeah, the part wasn’t yet available for us to photograph. Since Linamar wanted a phantom view and cutaway, CGI was the answer. Using supplied data, Indigo converted it and ran multiple test renders to nail down textures and surface choices, then went to work creating this animated piece on time and budget. The piece proved a good investment, as our client’s since been able to re-purpose this sales marketing tool for multiple platforms, from web-based advertising, print, editorial and internal presentation. The clip can be updated at any time and static frames are easily selected and pulled from the animation.
